What is the Holiday Lights Contest?
The Holiday Lights Contest is a FREE competition for both residences and businesses to showcase their outdoor display of lights and other decorations for the winter holidays.
Who can enter the Holiday Lights Contest?
Residences and businesses in the greater Frazier Mountain communities are eligible.
Why is Mountain Memories Association putting on this Contest?
We want to reinvigorate the Holiday spirit and light up our town starting from the Holiday Faire through the end of the season!
How do I enter?
You may enter through mountainmemories.org/holiday-lights-contest
Email your name and address to info@mountainmemories.org with the subject line of “Holiday Lights Contest Entry”.
You may also sign up at The Dress Up Trunk, 3620 Mount Pinos Way, Suite 104, Frazier Park, CA.
Displays at your home or business must be completed before Dec 3, 2025.
Who is judging?
A committee appointed by Mountain Memories Association will judge all entries.
When will the judging take place?
Judging will take place Dec 3-5. Decorations/lights for the contest must be available and lit up starting Dec 3rd every day, through Dec 5th between 5:00 p.m. and 10:00 p.m. for judging and on Saturday Dec 6th for the Holiday Faire & Fantasy of Lights Parade.
What criteria will the entries be judged by?
Judging includes the area that is visible to the public from the roadway. The Judging Committee will rate your display on the following criteria:
- 25% Festiveness- How well the display conveys the joy and spirit of the holidays.
- 20% Use of Color and Lights- Use of lights, color schemes, variety and repetition of lights, and the effective placement of various decorative elements.
- 20% Creativity- How unique and innovative is the display, are there unusual elements or unexpected combinations of decorations?
- 15% Theme- Is there a compelling storyline, cohesiveness or a clear holiday theme?
- 10% Skill Level- Is there a significant number of handmade or D.I.Y. decorations? Are there electronics involved such as timers and coordinated music?
- 10% Overall Presentation/Curb Appeal- The overall visual impact of the display from the street, making sure it is welcoming and engaging.
What should the winning entries expect?
Winners will receive bragging rights and a keepsake award sign for display in their yard or business. Their name and address will be added on a perpetual plaque to be on display at Caveman Cavey’s. Winners may also be featured on the Mountain Communities Holiday Faire Facebook page, Mountain Memories Association website and Instagram.
By entering this contest, you are consenting to the use of display photos, name and address of property to be used by Mountain Memories Association.
When will the winners be announced?
Winners will be announced on Dec 6, 2025, at the Mountain Communities Holiday Faire (time TBA). One winner will be awarded for residences and one for businesses.
