Dale Hansen & Ed Perine Memorial Parade
Saturday August 2, 2025, at 10:00am.
Get ready to be moved and inspired as the National Anthem sung by Stacie Dollar and the Bakersfield Young Marines Color Guard ceremoniously kick off the parade. Judges will be present and our announcer, Carey Moulder, will be guiding us through the entries. Join in as we show support for our dedicated emergency personnel as they pass by. Let's also cheer on our 2025 Honorary Mayor, Honorary Sheriff, and Grand Marshal. From floats and decorated vehicles, to dance performances and majestic horses, there's something for everyone to enjoy.
Grand Marshal
BJ Saidi
BJ and his wife Venita have been residents of our mountain since 2014. BJ joined the Mountain Communities Chamber of Commerce in 2017 and has been President for the last seven years. In 2021, BJ started working for Kern County as the Field Representative for District 2 currently under Supervisor Parlier.
“I enjoy working with the public for both County and Chamber issues. The two positions naturally overlap and seem to share common interests and goals”, said BJ. He is also very proactive in helping the CERT and Emergency Preparedness groups in Frazier Park, Lake of the Woods and PMC.
Honorary Mayor
Candace Huskey
Candace was born in Palo Alto, CA. She graduated from nursing school, then obtained a master's in health education and a teaching credential from San Jose State University.
She practiced hospital nursing, then teaching and continuing education before getting into sales of specialty hospital equipment throughout N. California, N. Nevada and Hawaii, which eventually led to living in Bakersfield and finally to Frazier Park some 34 years ago.
Around 1997, Candace joined a wonderful group of people determined to build a haven for those lost and abandoned animals. The group established the non-profit Shelter on the Hill: A Humane Society, in December of 1999.
The shelter itself officially opened its doors in 2014 with an all-volunteer staff and has cared for more than 2000 cats, kittens, dogs and puppies since then. SOTH is proud to be recognized by Best Friends, one of the largest animal welfare organizations in the country as a “No-Kill” shelter since it opened. “Without a doubt, the shelter would not be as successful as it is without that initial and now ongoing support of the residents of the Mountain Communities!” states Candace.
Honorary Sheriff
Rhonda Igo
Rhonda has lived in Frazier Park for just 5 years but has made a great impact. She is the former Sr. Vice Commander of the VFW and an active member of Let's Live Local. She helps run the weekly Bingo at the VFW and helps supply durable medical equipment to the community with Let's Live Local & VFW. She participates with the VFW in a clothing giveaway every 1st and 2nd Wednesday of the month at the park for the Mountain Communities. She also gives to the homeless on the Mountain in the way of tents, blankets and coats.
She received the Honorary Sheriff title in 2024 and again this year because of her commitment and conviction for the playful role in “imprisoning” attendees not wearing a Fiesta Days button!
